Groups

A series of groups are run during school terms. These courses are free and childcare is available. All groups, as well as being learning environments, offer opportunities for members to develop friendships with supportive people in similar situations.

Our current groups are:

Self Esteem Thru Art

Duration: 6 weeks (10.00am - 12.30pm)
Brief description: This group will use a variety of art materials to encourage self exploration and self expression. It is not necessary to be arty or creative. Child care is available. Call Di or Kelley on 9300 1022 to confirm your attendance.

Children's Group

Duration: 6 weeks (3.30pm - 5.00pm)
Brief description: A group for primary aged children who have been living in a home were domestic/family violence was occurring. The group will offer children the opportunity to understand that it is OK to talk about violence, that violence is not OK and its not the child's fault. Venue is Grace House Grand Blvard Joondalup. Parenting After Violence

Duration: 6 weeks (10.00am - 12.30pm)
Brief description: A parenting course for mothers who have separated after family violence which has affected their parenting role.

Children and Pets

Duration: 7 weeks (3.30pm - 5.00pm)
Brief description: This course aims to help children who have lost a pet through domestic violence. It is held at the RSPCA Malaga. For more information please contact Adi on 0400-950-829

Emotional Literacy

Duration: 6 weeks (10.00am - 12.30pm)
Brief description: Learn how to; identify understand and manage emotions, keep distress from overwhelming your ability to think, plus to use emotional awareness in problem solving.

Kurlangas - Aboriginal Play Group

Duration: 10 weeks (10.000am - 12.00pm)
Brief description: Are culturally appropriate playgroups that cater to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres St Islander families in the northern subrbs. There are 3 playgroups currently running. One is at the Anthoney Waring Club Rooms in Clarkson and one if at the Balga Primary School Balga. Another playgroup is run in the afternoon at the Hainsworth Community Centre, Girrawheen.
